Project

Stockport College

Location: Torkington

We delivered a highly technical programme of structural alterations and cut-and-carve works at the former Stockport College campus, transforming the building’s internal structure to support a major redevelopment initiative.

Valued at £400,000 and completed over a six-month period, the project required a combination of precision engineering, controlled demolition, and advanced temporary works design.

A key element of the works involved extensive Brokk robotic demolition, allowing us to safely remove load-bearing walls, concrete slabs, and internal structural elements within confined areas of the live building. The use of Brokk machinery provided exceptional accuracy, reduced vibration, and enhanced operator safety—critical within an ageing structure where traditional demolition methods would have posed greater risk.

Our engineering team carried out detailed assessments to sequence the works safely, designing and coordinating bespoke temporary supports, structural strengthening, and the formation of new openings to reshape the internal layout. This careful integration of demolition and structural engineering ensured the building remained stable throughout every phase.

The result is a reconfigured, structurally enhanced building shell, ready for its next stage of redevelopment—delivered with precision, control, and technical excellence.
